Scotch Pine 75 Unglazed Porcelain Mosaic Tile C47verB
|
|
Lyric unglazed porcelain mosaic tiles are extremely strong and have solid color throughout.
The revised colors come mounted on sheets of paper, which is removed by soaking in water overnight
to yield loose tile for mosaic art projects. Note that the corners of the revised colors aren't
sharp like the original version of Lyric but have slightly rounded corners for easier use.
Lyric is suitable for floors, walls, pools, fountains, etc., indoors and out.
The edges of the tile are not bevelled, which means that 100% of the tile is flat and usable.
The price is for a sheet of 75 tiles.
- Material: fine porcelain with solid color throughout
- Dimensions: approximately 3/4" (18.5 mm)
- Thickness: over 1/8 inch (4.3 mm)
- Frost-proof, impervious to liquid
- Suitable for indoor or outdoor use
Lyric porcelain tile can be cut with regular nipper, but they are hard. We recommend using
the Brutus Heavy-Duty Tile Nippper,
and you should position the tile to the side the cutting jaw so that the blades come down on half of
the tile instead of all the way across a tile centered in the jaw. This greatly reduces the force
required to cut the tile.
CAUTIONS:
- Porcelain tile is unglazed, so its surface can be stained by grout. To preserve the full color of the
tile, you should seal your mosaic with tile and grout sealer from the hardware store before grouting.
(It's not difficult or expensive.) We use a small paint brush or rag to apply the sealer without dripping it between the
tiles.
- For architectural installations, porcelain tile should be
installed with a latex-modified thin set mortar instead of glue. This
prevents the possibility of moisture seeping through the micro-pores of
the porcelain over the years and weakening any glue. For indoor
mosaic art projects, we use Weldbond glue.
