Our Porcelain Tile Nipper is made especially for cutting porcelain and hard ceramics for use in mosaics. At first I didn't see how these would be any different from regular tile nippers. Then I used them and realized the smaller pincher blades don't encourage the user to put as much material in the blade at once, and more importantly, they "bite" more like a pair of scissors instead of like a regular tile nipper. Regular tile nippers press the entire blade down all at once so that the blade is trying to pinch the material all along its length -this requires a lot of brute strength. The bottom line is that many people find it easier to cut hard ceramic dinnerware with these. Made in Italy for mosaic applications. Must be used with safety glasses with side shields. Not recommended for glass. (Glass is cut with the double-wheeled tool.) For advice on how to cut, glue and grout mosaic tiles, please see our Mosaic FAQ page or our page of Mosaic instructions.
