Sealing Mosaics Made With Glass Tile

All types of the glass mosaic tile we sell are impervious to moisture and therefore frost proof. In plain English, that means you don't have to seal glass tile because water can't penetrate inside and then freeze and crack it. However, the grout between the tile IS porous and does need to be sealed, especially outdoors. The grout and and adhesive are almost always the most vulnerable part of a mosaic (unless you are using softer varieties of marble or unglazed ceramic materials.

Keep in mind that tile and grout sealers aren't a coating but are invisible pore sealers, which means they won't effect the glass. You just wipe the sealer on with a rag and wipe it off. The sealer will penetrate into the porous grout but come right off the glass. Tile and grout sealers are available at any building material store and most hardware stores.
